James 1:17 (New International Version)
17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
One of God’s greatest gifts to us is the gift of a child! Motherhood can bring you to the highest peaks and to the lowest valleys and greatly strengthen your trust and reliance on the Lord. When your children are grown, you can look back with such gratitude to God for the gift of being allowed to be a special part of molding someone elses life! There is nothing else quite like it! I am eternally grateful for the gift of my three sons!
And it gets even better – now I have even more sons! The picture above was sent to me today by one of the missionary couples in El Salvador as my Mother’s Day gift! Mauricio and Raquel met at the World of Life bible institute in Argentina. Mauricio is from El Salvador and Raquel is from France. They married and commited their lives to serving the Lord as missionaries to El Salvador. This past March they became the proud parents of a little son named Esteban (or Steven in English).
When I was in El Salvador, Mauricio helped me to share the gospel with a number of people. A vendor at the beach and also a soldier who was guarding us as we enjoyed the afternoon at the ocean. We knew immediately that we were kindred spirits and in our hearts we are linked forever by a bond deeper than human love – the bond of Jesus Christ. Raquel was 8 and 1/2 months pregnant when we visited and was a willing guide on all of our adventures never complaining, always serving. A Woman after God’s own heart. Now they have a beautiful son. As they share their first Mother’s Day together I am thrilled that they shared it with me.
They have applied for a visa to come to the Word of Life camp in New York. Please pray for the Lord to bring them here safely and that He will provide for their financial needs.
I am also pleased to report that the roof has been completed on the dormotory building – pictures to follow. Now the interior of the dorms can be finished and the families like Mauri’s will have a room to sleep in when camp season begins. They will no longer have to sleep on the stage or on the floor! Thank you all who helped to support the dormotory/kitchen project! It means so much to our friends there!
God Bless you today- especially all you Mother’s!
