Building on the Rock!

Construction progress at the camp!

Matthew 7:24-28 The wise and foolish builders

24. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  25. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  26. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” 28.When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,

We just got back from spending the week at the camp in Congrejara cleaning up from the construction work and preparing some things for the children’s camp. I looked around when I first arrived at the camp and I was totally amazed at how much had been accomplished, since Ashley and I left at the end of August, with very little outside help.
All of the fans are set in place waiting for Erik to arrive from the US on the 10th to complete the electrical wiring. The tiling in the kitchen area is almost complete and the plumbing in place to put in all the new stainless steel kitchen equipment. Each room in the women’s dorm has been fitted with two ceiling fans waiting to be wired. All of the interior and exterior plastering has been completed on the dining hall/ kitchen building. The stairs have been built for the dorm area above kitchen. The basketball court is now ready for play with the two new hoop stands and lights in place.
When something is being built  that is pleasing to the Lord nothing is impossible. Through prayer, wise stewardship and leadership  and a willingness to work hard and not lose focus a small group of people have been able to accomplish big things. The focus is always on making the camp a better place for young people to come and experience the goodness of God and learn His ways.
At a recent staff meeting Roy showed us the future plans for the camp including a new entrance gate with the ability to be opened electronically and we are excited and hopeful that the Lord will bring all of these things to pass in His timing and for His purposes. Just like the story from Matthew 7 about the wise and foolish builders many things happen during construction  at the camp that try to delay and destroy the work but God’s hand of protection is over the place and the work continues. The rains come down, the streams rise and the wind blows but the camp is still there and the work continues because it is built on the Rock, Jesus Christ and His word and by His grace it will be standing when He comes back to redeem His people!
Thank you to all of the many people who have partnered with us to make all of this possible. it is truly a blessing to see and I am so happy  to be here and to be  a part of what the Lord is doing here!
Under His wing!

One Response to Building on the Rock!

  1. Ashley MacDonald says:

It’s so exciting to see what the Lord is accomplishing in El Salvador with and through Word of Life. When you love God and His people, it’s amazing how even pictures of construction can bring you to tears.

I love you all and I can’t wait to see God’s progress in person!
