Boasting about tomorrow!

Boasting About Tomorrow

James 4:13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.

We had spent yesterday in the morning and early afternoon presenting  the Empty Heart Drama at a local school and many children received Christ there yesterday! We were so happy and excited at the tremendous response of the children!

In the late afternoon I walked along the stretch of beach in the picture above with a friend going from house (hut) to house (hut) sharing the gospel . The people were all very polite and even offered us a seat and listened to us as we shared scripture verses and described the need to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ to receive eternal life. Every single one of these people offered us an excuse as to why this was not the time for them to take this step. They were all the familiar excuses, lies that the devil plants in people heads like – I am not good enough, I need to go to church and I don’t, not now maybe another time, I don’t want to be a hypocrite like the other people I see in church and on and on and on. We assured them that the bible clearly says nothing is necessary before coming to Christ except an open heart and a true desire to receive Him and allow Him to change your life. But they said No thank you! As we walked along the beach we were a little discouraged,  even after the huge success at the school, and I said to my friend “these people live here  in this beautiful place and they have a false sense of security thinking that tomorrow will be beautiful and the same as today. But tomorrow a wall of water could come and they could all be washed away.”

Well today I got up and turned on  my computer and saw what the incredible damage a wall of water did yesterday in Japan and today the very place we shared the gospel is under a tsunami watch! I am still in shock as I look in horror at the images in the news. The scriptures really came alive for me this morning and there is a  burning in my heart to tell every person that I can  – time is short and we are not guaranteed tomorrow!

2 Corinthians 6:1 Friends, we are not guaranteed tomorrow!  1As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. 2For he says,“In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.”a I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

Today 50 nations,  including the one I am in,  received a tsunami warning – another huge warning from the Lord – time is short – My coming in near! Please take advantage of this horrible situation and tell someone today that they can be safe in the arms of Jesus Christ regardless of what happens in this falling apart world! I haven’t been able to stop crying all morning and I am praying and begging God that each house we visited yesterday will be kept safe and His word, that we shared with them,  will come to mind today as they learn of the potential danger they are in  and maybe they will make the right decision before it is too late! How loud does He have to speak before we will listen?????? He is shouting at us, His people,  please wake up! Open your mouths and tell them that I love them and I am coming soon!

When the disciples asked Jesus what it would be like before He returned this is what He had to say:

Luke 17:26“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

28 “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

So happy to be safe under His wing today and for all of eternity regardless of what comes!

Awesome post, Linda…..perfect timing too. Our hearts were wretched this morning, also…grieving for those in Japan, but as you say….grieving for all those who think they’re ok, or know they aren’t-but aren’t yet willing to surrender to the Lordship of Christ. People think they can ‘live it up’ first, and then come to Christ at the midnight hour. Only problem is, some die in the 11th hour. Some by earthquakes, some by tsunami, others by accidents, and others-well, the Lord just says “time is up” and they die of unexplained causes. We keep on planting the seeds then, and pray for a harvest of souls!

Love you! Mel & Joe & Myles
